Amid the Covid-19 lockdown, there has been a stoppage in the manufacturing and making of products such as gutkha, but the Cyberabad police had received a tip and raided a gutkha manufacturing unit at Mailardevpally, and found machinery and gutkha material worth Rs. 10 lakh.
Acting on a tip-off, the Cyberabad police team also raided a house in Tatanagar in Katedan. While the lockdown was on, the owner of the gutkha manufacturing unit along with a few workers was manufacturing gutkha and it was being done under the known brand Amber. The gutkha manufacturing was going on and the packing was also happening when the unit was raided.
The person present at the manufacturing unit was caught but the owner went absconding and the Cyberabad police are trying to catch hold of him as well, Cyberabad Special Operations Team officials said.
Further action is going to be taken by Mailardevpally police who are given the material and the caught person. The operations of several small to large scale industries is currently closed unless it is an essential item that is being manufactured to reach the needs of people locked down in the entire country, and since gutkha, tobacco, and other products are not allowed to be manufactured, the plant being run here was illegally carrying it out.
