The first-of-its-kind case in Hyderabad has appeared as a Swiggy delivery agent has tested positive for COVID-19 in the city. This is after a similar case was seen in New Delhi, and this not just makes the restaurants and delivery services suffer but also the families that ordered via the delivery platform will have to follow all the precautions and quarantine to be safe and keep others safe.
The patient’s samples were collected two days ago and the results came in on Saturday and he was tested positive for the COVID-19 infection. As soon as the test results arrived, the information was immediately shared with the police and health departments concerned. There was no travel history for this person, and so it is suspected that he could have contacted the virus from a primary source. The youngster in his mid-20s seems to be from Nampally and he was associated with Swiggy for over a year. He was continuously working and delivering food as hotels and restaurants were allowed to work and people were ordering food amid the lockdown.
The concerned departments had plunged into action and had started containment of the areas around the residence of the patient, and four of his family members and three others were shifted to quarantine home for observation. The instructions were given to the restaurants, hotels and food joints from where the delivery person had collected food packets for the delivery of the same. They are being asked to close the restaurants as a preventive measure.
