Showing his support to PM Modi’s decision of the national lockdown, Telangana Chief Minister in today’s press conference said that if needed, the lockdown can be extended in the state, and he will also suggest PM Modi to help extend the lockdown in order to keep the community spread of Covid-19 in check.
The number of Coronavirus cases in India has been growing each day and the same has been the case in Telangana where the CM has been doing regular press conferences to let press and people know about the situation. The CM suggested that the lockdown can carry on for a couple of more weeks after April 14th but it is not an official confirmation for now, as decisions like these can lead to panic buying and instead, result in community spread of the virus.
The Telangana CM said “We can recover from the economic problems, but we cannot recover the lives of the people. In a given situation like this, with poor infrastructure, we cannot sustain this disease and we can only lockdown. I appeal to the Prime Minister of India, please extend the lockdown without any hesitation. Consult every Chief minister, have a video conference, but take a conscious decision.”
The CM also said that there is no weapon to fight the virus currently and given the situation, this is the only solution to contain the virus.
Telangana Chief Minister's Office now clarifies that CM K Chandrasekhar Rao suggested extension of lockdown for 2 more weeks (after April 15). He took a reference from BCG report which suggested lockdown in India will be good until June 3. No announcement of extension yet. pic.twitter.com/dxLb89RapT

The national lockdown currently is going to end on April 14th, and we might actually see this getting extended at the national level, but there are no official reports regarding the same. A report from Boston Consulting Group suggested that a lockdown until June 3rd can help contain the virus and come over the entire situation and CM KCR quoted that but he has not said that the lockdown will be extended right now.
